The Technical Assistance Team
(TAT)
consists of seven national and international experts and is led by a senior
international professional. The role of the TAT is to assist
FPMU
and the partner ministries in
performing their duties and to provide guidance and support for establishing and
operating the system for identifying, inviting and processing food security
related research proposals and granting funds to conduct them. More
specifically, the TAT provides technical assistance, advice and on-the job
training to the members of the inter-ministerial teams (TRTs)
to which they are
assigned.
The TAT is divided into four
teams which are
defined in relation with four key components of
food security: food availability, social and physical access to food, economic
access to food, and food utilization / nutrition.
The TAT is located in the
FPMU
premises
along with the
FPMU
analytical
staff and are assigned to work with the inter-ministerial teams engaged in the
analysis of policies and actions taken in accord with the
NFP
and its Plan
of Action, but they will allocate a significant share of their time to the
activities associated with the research agenda.
