Immediately after the
NFP was
approved, the
FPMU
formed a Working Group (the
FPWG), including representatives
from the concerned planning units or policy wings of the partner Ministries/Divisions.
The overall responsibility of the Food Policy Working Group
(FPWG) is to facilitate the implementation of the equitable, gender-sensitive
and pro poor National Food Policy by:
- guiding,
coordinating and monitoring progress of the work of the Thematic Research Teams
(TRTs);
- organizing work
on cross-cutting issues by facilitating collaboration across two or more
TRTs,
and assigning responsibilities to
TRTs
members;
- coordinating and
consolidating the preparation of the annual work plan of the
TRTs
, and
- preparing the
Plan of Action for the implementation of the National Food Policy and
submitting it for Food Planning and Monitoring Committee (FPMC) approval.
The
FPWG, led by the
Director General (DG) of
FPMU and the Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) of the NFPCSP comprises the FPMU Directors, TRT leaders, and the senior staff from the
partner Ministries. The
FPWG
meets quarterly in this composition with an overall
objective to review progress of the
work, give guidance, and enable hierarchical supervision over the partner
Ministries’ staff in the TRTs by the respective senior staff. In between such
sessions the
FPWG
meets as required, with its non-FPMU members represented by
the relevant staff in the TRTs. In carrying out the functions, the TRTs
coordinate their own activities with other TRTs and operate under the guidance
and supervision of the FPWG.
