FPMU Seminar on Evaluating Programme Impacts
The National Food Policy Capacity Strengthening Programme, in collaboration with the IFPRI project “Policy research and strategic support program for food security and agricultural development in Bangladesh”, is organizing a 1-day seminar on “Evaluating Programme Impacts: an introduction” on Tuesday 13th December 2011 at 9am in the meeting room of the Food Planning and Monitoring Unit (FPMU) of the Ministry of Food and Disaster Management, Khaddya Bhaban, 16 Abdul Ghani Road, Dhaka.
The objective of the seminar is presenting and discussing a number of internationally accepted methods and approaches to impact evaluation in order to contribute to enhancing the technical quality of research, primarily targeting researchers of institutions selected under the Research Grant Scheme (RGS), a major activity the project implements to fund policy-relevant food security research within the research agenda of the FPMU. Interested researchers also external to the RGS are invited to attend the session.
The seminar will be chaired by Dr. Kostas Stamoulis, Director, Agriculture Development Economic Division (ESA), FAO. Dr Akhter Ahmed (IFPRI) and Dr. Benjamin Davis (FAO) will be presenting basic concepts, approaches and evidences on measuring and evaluating programme impacts.
