Course 1: FOOD AND NUTRITION: PRINCIPLES AND POLICY APPLICATIONS

Objectives:

 

 The objectives of this course were to:

 

  1. Provide a basic understanding on food and nutrition and create/enhance nutrition awareness among the policy analysts to promote the use of food based strategies in addressing problems of malnutrition. 

 

  1. Recognize that utilization of safe and nutritious food plays a major role in achieving food security.

 

  1. Appreciate the inter-sectoral nature of the National Food Policy (NFP) and other related policies that include food, nutrition and other development components.

 

  1. Emphasize nutrition considerations in policy applications for promoting food security.
